Setting: The Marvel Ultimate universe is somewhere between our own and Marvel's regular "616" universe. Superheroes, mutants, aliens, and all that exist, but are less common and are often thought of with mistrust and suspicion. There is a lot of outright fear of mutants, and the general public will often link other superpowered individuals in with that category, even if they're technically not mutants.

The events of recent history that shape young Miles' existence include the death of a boy named Peter Parker, who was the world's first Spider-Man. Peter had been bitten by a radioactive spider and given super powers. Years later, Miles Morales is bitten by a similar spider, resulting in a similar change.

Nick Fury, leader of SHIELD, put together a team called the Ultimates that fights superpowered threats and basically corrals all superheroes together. Not all heroes fight with/for the Ultimates, but Fury likes to have a handle on everyone anyway. Fury was hesitant about Miles at first, saying he was too young, but after Miles proved himself capable, Fury sanctioned him, even providing him with a costume.

Globally, a group known as the Children of Tomorrow, led by Reed Richards, arose in Europe and detonated a living bomb in the middle of Washington DC, setting off a chain of events that left the United States in chaos. A terrorist group known as Hydra surfaced in the Wyoming area, spreading all the way to New York City. The superpowered fighting force known as the Ultimates, Miles in tow, was sent to deal with them and defeated their leader, who turned out to be Thor's son Modi.

Back in New York after all this is over, the being known as Venom went on a rampage looking for the identity of the new Spider-Man. Mistakenly thinking Spider-Man was Miles' dad Jefferson Davis, Venom attacked Jefferson and sent him to the hospital. At the hospital, cops were shooting wildly at Venom, and a stray bullet hit Miles' mother, Rio. After she died from her wounds, Miles threw away his costume and decided to be Spider-Man no more.

Personality: At first glance, Miles is your average middle schooler. He's a bit socially awkward, he likes to goof off with his friends, and he cares more about his parents than he'd ever admit in public. Unfortunately or fortunately for Miles, he happened to get bitten by a genetically-modified spider which his uncle Aaron, also known as super thief the Prowler, stole from Os Corp, and started to develop superhuman powers.

Keep in mind that Miles is living in a New York City that was just under attack from mutants, so when he starts developing these strange abilities, he's terrified that he's a mutant. He wants desperately to tell his dad, but his dad hates all things mutant so he has to keep it a secret. The only person who he tells is his best friend Ganke, who he trusts with everything. He hates lying to his parents, but it becomes necessary when Ganke convinces him to become a new Spider-Man.

Miles could just do nothing with his new powers, but after Peter Parker's funeral he began to feel a sense of duty. The phrase "With great power comes great responsibility" echoed from one Spider-Man to the next.

That's not to say it's easy, becoming the new Spider-Man. Miles has to prove himself over and over to Nick Fury, Peter Parker from a different dimension, Captain America, and all of the Ultimates team. Most people think that at only thirteen he's too young, but he wants to help, and with the nation in chaos, they can use all the help they can get.

Miles is unsure of even himself when he's fighting as Spider-Man. At first, his new powers surprise him, and he wins often through luck more than anything. His sense of duty keeps him from running away from danger, and his determination pulls him through to the end.

That determination falters, though, when he's scared or grieving. When his uncle, the villain the Prowler, dies during a battle between them, Miles is wracked with guilt, thinking his uncle's death was his fault. He still puts on the costume, but he's hesitant and scared. The line gets drawn, however, when his mother dies. At first he's in disbelief that it even happened, but once it sets in, he cries out and shreds his costume in anger/grief, screaming "No more! No more!" He's afraid of his dad getting hurt, or finding out his secret, so he stops being Spider-Man altogether, and resists his friends' attempts to persuade him to take it on again.

When told that he's in between life, death, and dreaming, Miles is apt to become very confused. Given the extremely emotional canonpoint he's coming from-- his mother about to die in his arms-- he may react harshly, yelling out or crying. When given time to think about it more, he may welcome it as a relief, a break from the life of Spider-Man which he's not sure he wants anymore.

Appearance: Out of costume and in costume.

Abilities: Miles' Spider-Man abilities include:
- superhuman strength, reflexes, agility, and durability
- wall-crawling
- invisibility
- spider-sense (a sort of precognition, sometimes manifesting in dreams)
- venom blast (delivering an electric shock by touch, often has a bit of a delay)
- web slinging (with the help of Peter Parker's web shooters)

Inventory: Torn up Spider-Man costume, webshooters.

Suite: One floor suite in Earth sector. I think the simplicity of it would be a good match for what Miles needs right now.

Third Person:
Miles hates all the lying. He can't even be properly sad about Uncle Aaron because he feels so guilty thinking he might be responsible. Even if the detective lady said it was his own equipment that backfired and exploded, Miles can't help but wonder if his venom blast didn't help it a little bit. He wishes just once he could tell his mom and dad about all this, or just anybody besides Ganke. Ganke is great and all, but he never takes anything seriously. He's kind of a useless best friend sometimes.

Still, he is Miles' best friend and he agreed to cover for him and say that Miles is at his house when really he's sitting in a jet flying halfway across the country to go fight some nutjobs calling themselves Hydra. Not many friends would have your back like that.

Miles is so nervous, if he'd eaten anything since school lunch the day before, he'd puke it up. He half wants to ask if there's an in-flight meal, but he doesn't think the SHIELD Giant Woman squad seems very friendly. At least the Invisible Woman is being nice to him. She promised to shield him from any bullets when they're on the ground together. He wanted to promise he'd help her in return, but he couldn't think of anything he can offer her. Just shoot web at the guys with guns, he guesses. That worked at SHIELD. He doesn't really want to have to get close enough to use the venom blast, but he has no idea if he'll get what he wants; he's just along for the ride.

[The video opens on a young black teen in local-looking garb. He has a bundle of black and red fabric in his lap.]

Um, hey. So I guess this is the best way to ask questions? Like a live Yelp or Yahoo answers or something? Basically I need a seamstress or someone who can fix my... clothes that I came in which are pretty torn up. Someone who is like, private or something. I... [He takes a deep breath. It's clear he's torn up about something, maybe even has been crying.]

Yeah. That's what I need to know. Thanks. [And he ends the feed.]
